Structure & Eligibility Requirements

Hospitals

  • Must exist as a pediatric hospital, institution or system

  • Be willing to share experience, quality, and safety metrics

  • Commit to transparency in data sharing as defined by the Participation User Agreement

  • Have executive leadership sign Participation User Agreement

  • Commit institutional resources:

    • Regular participation in Collaborative meetings, Summits, data collections and committees

    • Designate a dedicated leadership triad to represent your hospital consisting of a family co-lead, a hospital co-lead, and a clinical co-lead

    • Willingness to host Collaborative Fall Summit in partnership with the Steering Committee

    • Investment of $10,000 in annual membership dues

Individuals

  • Current employee (part- or full-time status) at member hospital or

  • Current or former Patient Advisor at member hospital or

  • Current or former Family Advisor at member hospital or

  • Active trainee currently working under, or being mentored by, member hospitals staff/faculty

  • Learn from other hospital’s experiences, expertise & insights

Benefits

  • Membership Calls: Every second Thursday of the month, we gather for Collaborative-wide updates, presentations pertinent to our members' various needs and interests, followed by an open discussion.

  • Open Forums: Every month, our Collaborative we gather for an hour of open discussion. We start off with a discussion topic chosen by members, then open the second half of the meeting to any other timely topics, current challenges, exciting successes, etc. that attendees want to share.

  • Spring Summit: Each spring, we host a virtual half-day summit for all Collaborative members. Content of is centered around a specific theme that is relevant to current issues and work being done to improve the patient, family and staff experience. Continuing education credits are offered.

  • Fall Summit: Each fall, one of our member hospitals hosts a hybrid summit that runs two to three days long. Content is centered around current issues and work being done to improve the patient, family and staff experience. Continuing education credits are offered.

  • Subcommunities: These groups are designed as additional spaces for counterparts across the country to connect, share ideas and work through challenges with those who are doing similar work. There is no agenda or objectives that these groups need to accomplish.

  • Experience Improvement Committee: The Experience Improvement (EI) Committee utilizes an inclusive infrastructure and quality improvement framework to select, direct, document, and disseminate Collaborative-wide improvement initiatives to enhance the national pediatric experience. The EI Committee oversees the PEC’s processes for selecting, directing, documenting, and publishing Collaborative-wide quality improvement projects. In partnership with the Communication and Education Committee, the EI Committee also offers a quality improvement curriculum for Collaborative members and contributes to the Collaborative’s library of resources and best practices.

  • Communication & Education Committee: The Communication & Education (C&E) Committee empowers the national pediatric community to enhance the pediatric experience for patients, families, staff and clinicians by advancing best practices through collaboration, education, and communication. The C&E Committee communicates and educates and informs the national pediatric community on recommended best practices for improving the pediatric experience. In collaboration with the PEC, this committee is a conduit to share educational tools designed to guide pediatric hospitals in the implementation of these best practices.
