Structure & Requirements

  • Must exist as a pediatric hospital, institution or system

  • Must share experience, quality, and safety metrics

  • Must commit to transparency in data sharing as defined by the Participation User Agreement

  • Must have executive leadership sign Participation User Agreement

  • Institutional commitment of resources:

    • Regular participation in Collaborative meetings, Summits, data collections and committees

    • A dedicated leadership triad to represent your hospital consisting of a family co-lead, a hospital co-lead, and a clinical co-lead contact

    • Willingness to host Collaborative Summits in partnership with the Steering Committee

    • Annual investment of $10,000 in membership dues

  • Belonging to a passionate group of patients, family members, PFE staff and clinicians dedicated to improving the pediatric experience with many of the country's best children's hospitals

  • Building supportive, collaborative relationships with pediatric colleagues across the country

Opportunities for Member Engagement

  • Membership Calls: Every second Thursday of the month, we gather for Collaborative-wide updates, presentations pertinent to our members' various needs and interests, followed by an open discussion.

  • Open Forums: Every third Thursday of the month, our Collaborative members and guests within the pediatric community join for an hour of open discussion. This meeting has no agenda, so attendees cover a wide variety of questions, share current challenges, and discuss hot topics.

  • Spring Summit: Each spring, we host a virtual half-day summit for all Collaborative members. Content of is centered around a specific theme that is relevant to current issues and work being done to improve the patient, family and staff experience. Continuing education credits are offered.

  • Fall Summit: Each fall, one of our member hospitals hosts a hybrid summit that runs two to three days long. Content is centered around current issues and work being done to improve the patient, family and staff experience. Continuing education credits are offered.

  • Subcommunities: These groups are designed as additional spaces for counterparts across the country to connect, share ideas and work through challenges with those who are doing similar work. There is no agenda or objectives that these groups need to accomplish.

  • Experience Improvement Committee: The Experience Improvement (EI) Committee oversees the Pediatric Experience Collaborative’s processes for selecting, directing, documenting, and publishing Collaborative-wide quality improvement projects. In partnership with the Communication and Education Committee, this Committee also offers a list of quality improvement educational resources available to Collaborative members, and contributes to the Collaborative’s resource and best practice library.

  • Communication & Education Committee: The Communication & Education (C & E) Committee is dedicated to maintaining, communicating, and educating Pediatric Experience Collaborative members and the national pediatric community on recommended best practices for improving the pediatric experience. In collaboration with the Experience Improvement Committee, this committee also develops and promotes educational tools designed to guide pediatric hospitals in the implementation of these best practices.
